It is quite normal for your skin to loose collagen with time as you age, or if you have had an accident or an injury that left your skin scarred. Known for its proven ability to stimulate the growth of collagen and elastin in your skin tissue, skin needling promises visible skin rejuvenation with guaranteed results.
Skin Needling also known as ‘Collagen Induction Therapy’ is used to stimulate new collagen growth. Skin needling has a number of benefits and has been shown to improve skin texture; reduce the appearance of scarring and fine to moderate lines; as well as having the ability to perforate and soften fibrous scar tissue with the deposition of new collagen.

Skin needling – also known as micro-needling or collagen induction treatment – is a safe, low-invasive non-surgical procedure that involves the use of micro-needling techniques to get the results you are looking for. Skin needling treatment relies upon your body’s natural healing process to produce a remarkable outcome without causing damage to the skin. Unlike laser treatments, chemical peels and other ablative skin procedures, a professional skin-needling treatment is safe to perform and causes negligible damage to skin.
A study conducted in 2009 revealed that 100% of the participants undergoing a skin needling procedure reported a noticeable difference in their previous skin problems as well as a huge improvement in their overall appearance. The reason why we recommend anyone to go for a skin needling treatment is to help them generate new skin cells and a natural production of collagen to achieve a firmer, smoother and finely-toned skin. For those you have lingering skin problems such as scars, acne, large pores, stretch marks or wrinkles, skin needling will lead to skin regeneration, a marked reduction in fine lines and more even skin tone and pigment.

What does skin needling treat?
Skin needling can visibly improve the appearance of; fine lines and wrinkles, acne scarring, surgical and trauma scarring, aged, sun damaged and sagging skin, rosacea, stretch marks and pigmentation.
How long does skin needling take?
A skin needling treatment usually takes 45 minutes to 1 hour depending on the number of areas being treated.
How often should skin needling be performed?
In most cases skin needling should be performed at 6 to 8 week intervals. There are two cases where skin needling should be performed at 2 to 4 week intervals, this is in the case of hyperpigmentation and problematic skin.
How many sessions of skin needling are needed?
The number of sessions required will depend on the condition you are trying to treat. Most conditions such as lines and wrinkles, ageing and sun damaged skin, rosacea, and hyperpigmentation require 4 to 6 treatments. Other conditions such as enlarged pores and scar tissue will require 6 to 8 treatments. Problematic skin only requires 2 to 4 treatments.
How long after skin needling will I see results?
Does skin needling hurt?
When performed without anaesthetic skin needling will give a slight discomfort throughout the treatment, most people find this to be quite bearable. If you are worried about pain during skin needling there is an option to have a topical anaesthetic applied for half an hour before, which will prevent any pain during the treatment.
What should you expect post skin needling?
Directly post skin needling you can expect to have pinpoint spot bleeding with a pinkish glow.
For 24 hours post treatment you can expect to have erythema (redness) and minor swelling. For 1-2 days post treatment you can expect mild erythema (redness), reduced swelling, some itching and a dry/tight sensation.
For 2-3 days post treatment there will be reduced erythema, swelling should be gone and there will be minor skin flaking.
After 3-4 days post treatment there will be slight dryness.
After 4-5 days post treatment you should be fully recovered with normalised skin function.
A cosmetic skin needling job is not only a safe procedure, but also a quick one which requires virtually no downtime. The entire treatment process takes almost 2 hours, including the preparation and procedure time.
You can safely opt for a skin needling treatment, especially if you are in good overall health. People who generally go for skin needling are those whose skin problems have not responded well to home remedies or other dermatologist treatments, such as chemical peels or dermabrasion.
During a skin needling procedure, your dermatologist will perform small pricks under the skin using a pen-like tool. These tiny and painless pinpricks will likely cause slight distress and injury to the skin, but that is to be expected as it means that your skin is actually responding to the process by producing new collagen-rich tissue. Skin needling can be used to treat a large number of skin problems, including:
